Score distribution, midterm I (10/02/2004) 98 97 96 95 93 91 90 (7 in 90 - 100) 87 86 85 85 85 84 84 83 83 82 82 81 80 80 (14 in 80 - 89) 78 77 76 75 75 75 75 72 70 (9 in 70 - 79) 68 67 64 64 62 61 (6 in 60 - 69) 59 56 52 50 (4 in 50 - 59) 49 49 44 40 35 19 (6 in 19 - 49) 00 00 00 (The three ``00'' scores are no-shows). My plan always is: A 90% and up B+ 80 - 90% B 70 - 80% C+ 60 - 70% C 50 - 60% F below 50%. Usually the boundaries end up a little bit, but not much, lower than the ones I plan to use. (Say 89%, etc). Midterm I has a weight of 10%, so in theory even a student with a score of 0 can still get an A. That is the theory. As a matter of fact, scores in different components tend to be correlated. So if your score is low: don't despair, but work as the dickens. If your score is high: feel good about it, and work as the dickens.
