To students who want to do a MSc project or MSc thesis with me: (1) Read the departmental web pages on Master Projects (or Theses). Make sure you know all conditions, requirements, deadlines, dates, etc. This can be found as follows: NJIT web page. CCS (College of Computing Sciences) web page. CS (Computer Science) web page. Degree Programs. MSc CS description. Program Information. News about the program. Click on ``here''. Any other choice (in particular clicking on ``FAQ'') is likely to lead you to the IS web pages. (2) Think about what you would like to do. If at all possible, think up an experiment you would like to do. (3) Send me Email for an appointment. (4) Make sure you still have enough time to discuss with me, and then write a proposal before the deadline. Make sure you have at the very least 5 weeks between your first appointment and the deadline for handing in the proposal. Hints: Currently I am interested in network simulation. Read up on the Network Simulation Tool. (Go to google, search for ns2, etc). I am also interested in ECN (Explicit Congestion Notification). See the RFCs on ECN, and see my papers. I am also interested in taking and analyzing traffic measurements (see CIS 656 fall 2001, an ISP Traffic Study). Students who want to do a project with me must take CIS 656 from me and get an A or high B+. Students taking CIS 656 from me in the fall usually write a proposal in the spring and do the project in summer and/or fall. Good Luck. Teun Ott.
