(26) Who is your ISP? ------------------------------------------ CIS 656-105, fall 2001. 19 responses One student has a 40 hours/week job and is taking 3 classes. That amounts to 70 hours / week: very stressful! Possibly unwise. Two students 20 + 5 : 70 hours / week. Two students 40 + 2 : 60 hours / week. Three students 20 + 4 : 60 hours / week. Number of hours web surfing: zero (?), 3, 2 times 4, 5, 6, 8, 2 times 9, 3 times 10, 2 times 12, \2 times 30, 40+, plus some ``several'' and ``little''. Amount of Email: Units not clear. Some seem to indicate number of Emails, some hours. zero (?), several in the 8 - 10 range, highest two are 100 and 150. Ping: 13 y, 6 N TraceR 3 y, 16 N TCPdump: 2 y, 17 N Telnet: 17 y, 2 N FTP: 16 Y, 3 N CSMA-CD (Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Detection) 13 Y, 6 N. understand CSMA-CD 10 y, 9 N URL, what is it. 16 Y, 3 N can you visit 18 Y, 1 N did you visit 18 y, 1 N (It seems (?) one student never visited the NJIT web site. Data is suspect.) IP adressing 11 y, 8 N IP dotted decimal example: 13 y, 5 N distance vector protocol, know: 5 y, 13 N Example: (RIP: Routing iNformation Protocol) 2 y, 17 N Link State Protocol, know: 5 Y, 13 N Example (OSPF: Open Shortest Path First) 1 Y, 18 N Examples of protocols with exponential backoff: 19 N What does ISP stand for: 17 Y, 2 N Example ISP: 17 Y, 2 N Your ISP: two people do not know, but do surf and use Email. I assume their ISP is ``NJIT''. Three more say ``NJIT''. One person seems not to have web access. But that person did give an Email address, so I assume the data is bad.
