Homework for Thursday September 12: Study the ``example tcl'' page, in particular the explaining text. Look at the out.tr and readfile.txt files. Download and install NS-2 into your directory. Obtain your own ``ns'' and ``nam'' executables and play with them. Optional (recommended) extract the file 2tcp_1node.tcl from the page ``example tcl file'' and execute ns with it. (preferably your own ns , otherwise the NJIT version). Optional (recommended) take the file out.nam from this website (or from your running ns with 2tcp_1node.tcl as above) and execute nam with it (rename out.nam first). (preferably your own nam , otherwise the NJIT version). Homework for Thursday September 19: Write your own tcl file of a network of your choice, or of one to be described in class. Run your own version of ns with it. Further to be announced. From ~ Sept 20 on you will work mostly with the ns and nam programs in /usr/local/bin/ . Soon after Sept 19: Produce a graph of tcp throughput as function of say (TCP maxwindow size, or bufferesize, or linkspeed, or propagation delay, or ... ).
